A Year of Hard Work and Success – My Swimming Triumph - Witold Musiał

Yesterday, October 5th, 2024, was a truly special and emotional day for me. It has been exactly one year since I received the trophy for swimming 18 km from Gdynia to Hel, which was a tremendous honor. Yesterday, I was once again invited to the Baltic Oscars gala in Warsaw, and this year’s ceremony was even more extraordinary.

The past year has brought me many successes. I competed in several prestigious events, earning two third-place finishes at the Otyliady (in Chrzanów in November 2023 and in Miechów in March 2024). What fills me with the greatest pride, however, is my first-place finish in the 24-hour race in Kazimierza Wielka, where I swam an impressive 44 km and 100 m.

But the real cherry on top was my exceptional open water challenge – Puck-Chałupy times 4, which covered a straight-line distance of 28 km. This result turned out to be the best achievement in terms of distance swum as part of the Baltic Challenge Extreme this year, earning me a special distinction from the organizers. Last year I was one of many participants, but this year I became the best!

A year of hard work has paid off. It is not three days of effort that bring success, but 365 days of consistent training and dedication. I would like to thank my students who train with me both in the pool and in open water, for all the wonderful reviews on the Total Immersion Polska website.

I also extend my heartfelt thanks to my partner and swimming assistant, Mariusz Smenżyk, for co-creating our group and for his contribution to the development of our Swim Buddy project – a swimming Garmin. Those interested can visit Swim Buddy, which supports swimmers in their daily training.

Thanks are also due to Mikołaj Wincełowicz from Swim-Sport for our joint training sessions, as well as to Anna, Ola, and Magda Musiał for their patience and understanding when I am so often away from home.

This year has been full of challenges and rewards, but it is only the beginning!
